Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider Marcelo Gutierrez continued his hot streak at Crankworx Whistler, capturing a podium in the Air DH race to follow up his win in the Garbanzo DH. The six-time Colombian national downhill champ piloted his Reign Advanced to a third-place finish in the race down Whistler’s famous A-Line run.

“I’m happy to get my first-ever podium in this race,” said Gutierrez, who wore the new Giant Shuttle shoe to tackle A-Line. “The track was really fast and I tried to keep the flow going. It’s kind of a weird race for me, a very different feeling when I compare it to the Garbanzo DH, where I always feel really nervous.”

Gutierrez’s teammate Mckay Vezina also made the top-10, finishing 10th on his Reign Advanced and wearing the new Giant Line enduro/trail riding shoe.

Jacob Dickson, a downhill racer more accustomed to rough, technical tracks, also took his first shot at the Air DH, always one of the most unique and anticipated events at Crankworx. The Irishman said he enjoyed the experience on his Reign Advanced.

“It’s a race with load of jumps,” Dickson said. “I was happy with 21st, it’s my first A-Line race and thought I would have ended up 50th.”

The Giant Factory Off-Road Team is competing at a variety of competitions during the Crankworx Whistler event, from enduro racing to DH and other races throughout the week.
